Upgraded day centre, thanks to Corobrik
Corobrik has built a day care centre, Jabulani Day Care Centre, which will care for the children of working parents in Tembisa, Gauteng. The company's Midrand factory manager, Ronnie de Gabriele, said the company had contributed to the new R450 000 centre through both funding and donating building materials. Building operations began in June 2010 and unemployed members of the local community did much of the work, which was completed by the end of July 2011. Owner principal, Grace Mamooe and a few dedicated teachers and caregivers run the centre. A quarterly grant from the Department of Social Services goes towards a feeding scheme. Nutritious breakfasts and lunches are prepared in the newly built kitchen and served to all the children. Often these are the only meals these children have for the day.
