Let's take a look at Acumen Media's seven-day analysis of the biggest stories in the South African media. This week, the nation was plagued with unsavoury and gut-wrenching behaviour.

The country's biggest cities - Johannesburg and Pretoria - continued seeing a wave of xenophobic attacks - which even led to other parts of the continent with SA companies like MTN and Shoprite bearing the brunt in countries like Nigeria.

Calls for President Cyril Ramaphosa to intervene went straight to voicemail and National Police Commissioner Bheki Cele couldn't bring much calm either. Social media users tried to defuse the situation with #AfricaUnite and #UnitedAfrica but it didn't gain much traction.

The ongoing murder of women and children in the country has reached saturation point and women have decided to take a stand. Reportedly, one woman is murdered by a man every four hours in SA. This time women took to the streets and called on the president to put an end to it with #AmINext, which also made international headlines.
