Oxford University Press reveals Word of the Year for 2018
Oxford University Press has announced that its Word of the Year for 2018 is 'toxic'.
The word was chosen because it is a word that reflects the ethos, mood, or preoccupations of 2018, and has a lasting potential as a term of cultural significance.
The Oxford Word of the Year is a word or expression chosen to reflect the passing year in language. Every year, the Oxford Dictionaries team debates over a selection of candidates for Word of the Year.
