Who owns the right to use a photographic image?
I have just been through an experience with different photographers over the use of photographs once the photographer has been paid for the shoot. It seems that there are some who believe that it is their right to charge for usage, and usage in each different media or for each application. Other photographers are happy to be paid for the shoot and what use and where the agency and client put it to doesn't matter. Is there an industry standard and who owns what? I would be interested in hearing from photographers and agencies on this thorny issue.
