Careers fair heads for Pretoria
The SABC Education Careers Fair, which presents an introduction of career choices to youths in grades 9 – 12, is heading for the Pretoria Showgrounds, 29 – 31 May 2007.
Explains Jennifer Pressly of Orbes Media, event manager for the SABC Education Careers Fair, “Learners begin the outing by receiving life skills CDs and a supporting magazine ‘CET24'. They are then given a true visual perspective of career options at the Standard Bank Movie Zone, where various career options and skills shortages are showcased. The movie also highlights the importance of recycling and taking care of the environment with a great competition for them to participate in.”
The various exhibitions ensure that learners are able to access information from youth organisations, universities, colleges, government departments, skills development centres and learnerships or bursaries from corporate companies and financial institutions.
“Learners are able to get face to face with potential employers to discuss study options and careers. They will find out more about the world of science and the latest technologies in environmental car design. The SABC Education Careers Fair provides workshops for educators to ensure they have an enjoyable day,” concludes Jennifer.
