The “Big Picture” of the newspaper world

DARMSTADT, GERMANY: More than 320 exhibitors will show the expected 10 000 newspaper experts from 80 countries the “Big Picture” on more than 13 200 m² stand space at IFRA Expo 2008 in Amsterdam.

The motto of this year's exhibition for the news publishing industry, that will be held 27 - 30 October 2008 in the RAI exhibition centre in the capital of the Netherlands, is “Get the Big Picture!”. This is the 16th time that Amsterdam is hosting this annual event.

The more than 320 manufacturers, service specialists and providers of solutions for the news publishing industry from 28 countries who have registered to date represent the individual pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that make up the Big Picture of this year's exhibition.

What's on

Shortly before IFRA Expo opens its doors, a Pre-IFRA Expo Study Tour visiting various newspaper houses in Europe will be organised 19 - 25 October under the motto “Semi-Commercial Printing in Europe” (www.ifra.com/studytours).

Five focus sessions under the title “Newspapers Today” will be held 27 - 29 October on the following topics: Business and Management, Advertising, Newspaper Production, Colour and Quality Management, Strategies in the Newsroom (in English, with the option of additional languages in case of sufficient demand) (www.ifraexpo.com/focussessions).

There will be a free info session “AdsML is live!” on 28 October (www.adsml.org).

The “Customer Insight” Workshop (in English) on 30 October will lead to a better understanding of customers (www.ifra.com/training).

Exhibitors with special solutions will inform (free of charge) about innovative technologies, business models that offer good prospects of success, and best-of-practice examples in the IFRA Expo Solution Park (in hall 10):

  • Monday, 10am - 6pm: Editorial and Content Management;
  • Tuesday, 10am - 3pm: Mobile Services; 3pm - 6pm: Local Search;
  • Wednesday, 10am to 6pm: Advertising and CRM;
  • Thursday, am - 4pm: Production and Distribution.

The exhibition of the world's best newspaper printers in the International Newspaper Color Quality Club 2008-2010 will show the winning entries in hall 11 (near the IFRA stand) (www.colorqualityclub.org).

The IFRA XMA Cross Media Awards 2008 special exhibition will present the winning projects on this year's topics “Cross-Media Advertising” in the walkway between hall 8 and halls 9, 10 and 11 (www.ifra.com/xma).

The IFRA stand (11520) and “IFRA Magazine & more” (in the foyer of halls 9, 10 and 11) is available to all Expo participants as an information point and meeting place.

Interested expo participants are invited to join a morning jog through Amstel Park on the days of the exhibition (Monday to Thursday); meeting point is in front of the Novotel Amsterdam City at 7am every morning. Amstel Park and the Novotel are located close to the RAI grounds.
