The new Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Sun and Sunday Sun newspapers is Reggy Moalusi. He will be overseeing the entire editorial process of both newspapers, being the face of the two titles and representing the brands among key clients and readers.

The Daily Sun is a daily newspaper published in Johannesburg and its news focus is on human interest stories, while the Sunday Sun is a weekly that focuses on celebrity news. The Daily Sun has a readership of over 5.3 million according to the latest All Media Products Survey (AMPS) figures.

About Reggy Moalusi

Reggy Moalusi, the new Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Sun and Sunday Sun was formerly the Deputy Editor of Daily Sun. Moalusi started as a journalist in 2002 at the Mail & Guardian. He worked on Sunday World and the defunct Nova newspaper before joining Daily Sun in 2006, where he has been news editor, senior assistant editor and acting editor.

Q: What is your first order of business?
A:
That would be to continue getting workable solutions with regard to our circulation.

Q: What is your main business challenge?
A:
There are two key challenges at present with the regard to the business. The first is declining circulation and the second is low margins in advertising. I have to continue working closely with these two key departments so that a close eye can be kept on the challenges and viable solutions are found.

Q: What do you love the most about news?
A:
The desire that we inform and we do so to masses of people. There is nothing as exciting like to be in the forefront of the news gathering process and oversee that process right to the end.

Q: Most important attribute needed to do your job?
A:
The ability to lead teams in difficult and challenging environments is critical.

Q: The biggest trend to note in the media industry?
A:
The revolution that is digital and its impact in the media.

Q: How will you make an impact?
A:
I plan to play a critical role in arresting the decline in circulation. To present daily and weekly newspapers that are hugely appealing to readers.

Q: What inspires you?
A:
The man in the blue overall. That's the Daily Sun reader - and how ambitious and community-oriented he is.

Q: How do you inspire others?
A:
By making them to see their strengths and use them to the best of their potential.

Q: Your life philosophy?
A:
There can never be any substitute for hard work. It pays to focus and have clear goals on desired results.

Q: At the top of my 'bucket list' is...
A:
To run the Comrades Marathon and travel the world more.
