'It's for life' wins US award

It's for Life, a television series that promotes life-long learning, has won a Silver Screen Award for creativity in the general education category at the 2005 United States International Film and Video Festival.

The festival is devoted exclusively to the recognition of outstanding television, documentary, entertainment, industrial and informational productions.

Jo Neethling, project manager at SABC Education, says: "It's for Life shows that anybody can change their circumstances given the right tools. It's possible to boost life skills and self-confidence by opening up a new world of opportunity and knowledge.

"With the help of specialists and experts, participants are put to the test to find out whether they know how to practically incorporate the life skills they were taught into their own lives."

Produced by LCAT for SABC Education, the programme is broadcast on SABC2 on Sundays at 12 midday.
