Weekend Life & Leisure - Launch

It will cater for the whole family with regular product related inserts on DIY, food & wine, fashion & beauty, health & fitness, motoring & 4x4, new product technology, traveling & weekend destinations, kids clubs & parties, shopping, and so on.

Weekend Life & Leisure kicks-off with an insert-series portraying the weekly progress of a house being built. In 'Building Your Dream' we follow a young upwardly mobile black family, Dan, Nomhle and their two daughters, through all the processes of taking such an important step. After the completion and furnishing of the house, it will be handed over to the Topsy Foundation as a combined SABC2-Cashbuild charity project. The Topsy Foundation is an orphanage and rehabilitation project for HIV positive children.

On a more leisurely note, this first broadcast will also bring ''Pizzeria of the Month" to viewers. Viewers will be given the opportunity to nominate their favourite Pizzeria and stand a chance to win great prizes or even be featured on television, should their suggested pizzeria make the grade.

"Super Gadgets" will be a regular feature where the latest product technology is introduced by a well informed ''techie'', Christo van Gemert, who is currently Hardware Editor of the international magazine PC Format.

In future, Weekend Life & Leisure will also be the show where most weekend events and exhibitions are featured. Wine Master and independent wine consultant, Bennie Howard will host a regular wine insert.
