New reality talent contest to hit SA TV
Regional shows will be staged during early to mid 2004 in all the major centres and the winners of the regional DANCIN shows will fly to Johannesburg or Cape Town. The public will choose the winner during a live televised gala spectacular in September 2004.
The auditions will be featured in lifestyle and reality entertainment programs on major and regional television and radio stations, as well as in many national and regional newspaper and magazine write-ups.
The competition will be open to all South African juniors 10 - 16 and seniors 17 - 26 years.
Dance Styles that will be considered include:
(1) Kwaito, Break Dancing Mapantsula, Fusion, Hip-Hop
(2) Traditional National/Character
(3) Freestyle, Disco, Rave, House
(4) Tap
(5) Contemporary, Ballet or Jazz, Modern Ballet or Jazz, Classical Ballet
(6) Dance Sport, Ballroom, Aerobics & Jive
(7) Open Category Interpretive/Creative, Acrobatic styles representing your province.
The process of selecting the country's first DANCIN show dancer will begin in earnest in April 2004, when the director, crew, judges and presenters travel the country to find the most dynamic DANCER with the moves, stage presence and pizzazz of a true showman. Dancers will be required to prepare a 1 min 30 sec dance routine of their choice. Bring your own CD or cassette tape.
