Three new shows for Channel O

Channel O will usher in the New Year with Mzanzi Ridez, a car-customising show; Behind the Video, the lowdown on music video shooting; and O-Zone, filmed at Primi Piatti at The Zone in Rosebank, Johannesburg. Says Yolisa Phahle, Channel O GM, "2006 has been a fantastic year for Channel O and it is our intention to work even harder to ensure that 2007 sees us continue to be recognised by viewers and industry as Africa's number one music channel."

On the local front, Mzanzi Ridez, hosted by Ready D and Sakia Falken hits the airwaves on Thursday, 4 January 2007, at 6pm. The show will feature all the car gadgets that are synonymous with car-customising, from car budget builds to cosmetic aspects such as mag wheels and safety issues such as brakes and safety belts.

"Ready D is a new face on the Channel but is known to our audience for his djing, his love of cars and breakdancing, as well as the work he does with the young people," comments Phahle.

Hot on its trail is Behind the Video, which offers the low down on all the going-ons that take place when big names such as Snoop and Mariah Carey shoot their videos. Get a chance to see your favourite artist sweat it out to get the perfect shot for your favourite video. Find out whether Mariah Carey is a prima donna or a perfectionist. Behind the Video premieres on Sunday 7 January at 11am.

Says Phahle, "Behind the Video is a series never seen before on Channel O and following on from the success of Beef and Diamond Life, we are committed to bringing our audience the best of what is internationally available."

O-Zone rounds off the week with laid back slow jams presented by Grace Meadows. She will entertain celebrity guests and allow Channel O fans the opportunity to interact with guests and send shouts outs to friends across the continent.

Also on the show will be a Slam Poet segment which will feature a showdown between two poets, with the audience voting for the winners. This will be done in collaboration with Y-fm's Word of Mouth show. O-Zone will be broadcast from Sunday 14 January at 4pm.

Channel O is available on channel 87 on the DStv bouquet.
