Travel the Cape country meander on a CD

Western Cape tourism route, The Cape Country Meander (TCCM), has become an aural experience thanks to a CD that has been launched as a companion tool to experience the meander through storytelling.

Once Upon a Time on the Cape Country Meander is a double CD that will allow listeners to uncover the history, the quirks and the fascinating tales tucked into the fabric of the areas travelers pass through, visit and stay at.

Guided by the voice of award-winning actress, Bo Petersen, the CD features commentary and interviews with the region's many interesting characters. From the curator of the Apple Museum, Norma Bridgman, to archeologist Mary Patrick, and Genadendal Museum educational officer, Samuel Baatjies, Once Upon a Time on the Cape Country Meander will add depth to the understanding of the towns on the map. The music used on the CD is also largely from the region.

A great escape

The Cape Country Meander links eight rural towns within an hour of one another in the Theewaterskloof area. They include Elgin, Botrivier, Caledon, Greyton, Genadendal, Riviersonderend, Tesselaarsdal and Villiersdorp. Heralded for its natural beauty, the area is popular with adventure seekers, particularly mountain bikers, but it's also a great escape for families and friends at a short distance from Cape Town.

Written and produced on behalf of the Cape Country Meander by Sue Valentine, Once Upon a Time on the Cape Country Meander was also researched by Sue Valentine, along with Felicity Jervis, Isaac Balie, Jacqui Boulle, Joanna Dibden and Lizette Kok. The double CD is available for R80 from the various tourism offices in the region or by request from az.oc.rednaemyrtnuocepaceht@ofni.
