MSC Cruises SA makes booking easier

Due to recent unprecedented call volumes into the call centre, MSC Cruises SA has recommended that in order to assist passengers in the fastest and most effective way possible, they log onto www.msccruises.co.za and utilise the online booking system.

Interest in the current season has been high with over 115 000 passengers booked to cruise on board MSC Sinfonia and MSC Opera to date. MSC Cruises SA recently upgraded their call centre in Johannesburg to deal with the increased volumes for the record season, but of late have been cognisant that over this busy period, passengers may be suffering some frustration in reaching the call centre timeously to secure their booking.

"The online booking system provides a fast, effective and hassle free solution for cruise bookings" notes Allan Foggitt of MSC Cruises SA. "Passengers, who perhaps feel the call centre is slower in its response time over this period due to high volumes, are urged to use the online system as an alternative. It is of key importance to us that the cruise experience starts with an easy and effective booking service".

The www.msccruises.co.za site is a fully e-commerce enabled site with a simple process to allow online bookings:

  • Step 1: Search and select your cruise
  • Step 2: Provide essential personal information, choose your cabin and register for MyMSC
  • Step 3: View our Terms and Conditions, pay using your credit card and receive instant booking confirmation
  • Step 4: Log in to MyMSC and complete the Online Booking Form to ensure smooth ticketing and embarkation procedures
  • Step 5: Issue your Eticket immediately

The recently upgraded call centre has seen an addition of over 14 staff, rigorous training and has also introduced 60 new incoming lines. Travel agents are also enabled to booking online through the business to business portal of MSC Online which eliminates the need to call and enables the agent to provide real time service to their customers when booking an MSC Cruise.

With the cruise sector growing across South African population groups, passenger assistance has become a key focus for MSC, especially to assist first time cruisers with the information and insights that they require. The first step has been to revamp the online FAQ's to a more intuitive and easy to navigate format. After 25 years of providing cruises in the South African waters MSC have attempted to address all frequent question whether a regular or first time cruiser.
