More woman power on 5FM
The station has opted for stability, making minimal changes to the working formula of its existing weekday line-up, with established favourites such as Gareth Cliff on 5FM Mornings, the Sasha Martinengo, Grant and Anele, Fresh Drive and Rob Vember shows remaining in their current slots.
The station's Power Nites shows (10pm to midnight, Mondays to Thursdays) will see Poppy Ntshongwana taking over the reins from Bongi Mbelu on the Tuesday slot. Mbelu will step into the weekday mornings slot from 3am to 6am. Sports presenter Duran Collett from the Weekend Breakfast Show with Thomas, moves across to join the Fresh Drive on weekdays.
New addition for Weekend Breakfast
Saturday's line-up also remains unchanged but for one new addition to the Weekend Breakfast with Thomas in the form of Thato Moeng, joining the team as the station's first female sports presenter of the new decade. She currently hosts Thursday Night Live with Robert Marawa on Supersport 4 and has extensive sports journalism experience garnered in the YFM newsroom.
Dineo Lusenga and Elma Smit remain in their early morning Saturday and Sunday slots. Sundays will now offer listeners Poppy Ntshongwana in a new show from 10am to 2pm, which focuses on new trends, lifestyle topics from gadgets to fashion and the new music submissions to enter the playlist for the week ahead. Angela Guastella will now host a new show from 5pm to 7pm on Sundays and Jola Slomkowski on Sundays from 10pm to midnight will offer a wrap-up of the best of the week in the Best of Five with Jola.
Station manager Aisha Mohamed says, "The station has an established line-up with experienced personalities. This line-up sees some of our younger talent being offered bigger opportunities, which is in line with our growth and development plans for the future."
