5FM undergoes changes, launches WAP

Times are a-changing at 5FM, what with the launch of its WAP portal on Friday, 18 July 2008 - coinciding with birthday celebrations of former president Nelson Mandela - and its marketing manager Aisha Mohamed moving on to MTV Networks Africa next month.

After three years at the station, Mohamed is leaving to work on MTV Europe in Africa, MTV Base, Nickelodeon and VH1.

The current sales manager, Cornia Spamer, will now be responsible for interactive business development as well as website and SMS interactivity. “What this means is that from now on we will be having one person dedicated to this particular product. And for the clients, it's a 360 degree type of thing. We no longer sell one product but a complete package that includes products such as website, mobile, events… this is a one stop shop that clients can experiment with and see if it will bring results,” says Spamer.

“I will be working closely with Leigh-Ann Mol, the webmaster for the station's website and newsreader on Gareth Cliff's show. Her responsibilities will be the administration, as well as managing content.”

The portal, http://m.5fm.co.za, was launched with a download of the Soweto Gospel Choir singing happy birthday to the former president on 5FM Mornings with Gareth Cliff.
