Algoa FM gears for relaunch of Border Drive Show

In a statement in Port Elizabeth on Monday, Algoa FM programme manager Alfie Jay announced the appointment of popular Eastern Cape DJ, Darron Mann as the person to present the "Border Drive Show" - an additional three-hour radio program to be broadcast from East London.

Mann, an experienced commercial radio DJ who was previously with Algoa FM, will burst onto the airwaves of the new and exciting "Border Drive Show", to be broadcast between 3pm and 6pm Monday to Friday from a completely new studio in East London.

The new studios are currently being fitted with broadcast equipment involving an investment of some R360000. According to Jay, the launch of the additional show in East London on Monday, August 4, forms part of a broader strategy to position Algoa FM as the province's ultimate voice in commercial radio broadcast - "the station for the Eastern Cape." He said the new additional show would feature very exciting programming giving a special flavor to specifically the Border region - from East London to Bisho, King Williams Town, Queenstown and Aliwal North.

Jay said: "Enthusiasm sums up the Border Drive for me - it's being designed to tantalize the taste buds of our loyal Border audience and I look forward in anticipation to the success the show will achieve."

Meanwhile, commenting on his appointment as the DJ for the additional show, Mann said he was "over the moon" with excitement. "I am obviously looking forward to the challenge. Management has a very exciting strategy that I'm really looking forward to being part of. We have an exciting array of entertaining ideas that I am sure will go down well with our growing audience. It is really going to be something. We're already making headway on plans for the show."
