Business Live reports that for a mere R90 000 a night you can rent a lavish castle perched on a cliff overlooking the Noetzie River near Knysna. The Pezula Private Castle is fully booked for the Christmas and New Year period.

Another eight-storey castle overlooking Clifton in Cape Town is available at R40 000 a night and a couple from Europe have already booked it out for the whole of January, at a cost of about R1,2-million, according to the Business Live report.

Business Live also reports that there are about 950 villas available in Cape Town costing between R14 000 and R18 000 a night - which is a bargain-basement price compared with the castles that are being offered to travellers.
