Hotel students stand a chance to win trip to London

Are you a hospitality or culinary student at the International Hotel School? Then you are invited to enter the InterCampus Competition where International Hotel School will be searching for the Top IHS Culinary and Hospitality students.
Hotel students stand a chance to win trip to London

To enter, students from the Hospitality sector must submit a letter of recommendation from a property where their work integrated learning was or is currently being carried out, as well as a copy of their academic record. For each student from the culinary arts sector, a recipe must be submitted with an original photo of the dish. All entries must be submitted to the managing principal of their respective campuses.

The entry date has been extended and will now close on Monday, 27 October 2014, where after ten students from each sector (Hospitality and Culinary) and from each campus will be chosen as semi-finalists. These lucky students will then proceed through to the regional finals to be held at their respective campuses on Thursday, 30 October.

The regional finals will see two components of the competition being carried out: The Hospitality component will see ten finalists demonstrating their hospitality knowledge by competing in a Night Audit/Hotel Accounting exercise and more, with the Culinary component seeing the ten finalists creating a main course and dessert dish from a mystery basket, and then being judged on hygiene, taste, texture, flavour, colour and plating.

Only one winner will be chosen from each segment in the various regions. The winners will then participate in the finals at the International Hotel School's Durban Campus in Westville on Monday, 10 November.

The overall winner of the event will join the winner of The Ultimate School Cook Off Competition on a Gourmet Adventure of a lifetime to London which includes return flights, a three night stay at the luxury Draycott Hotel in Sloane Square, dinner at two top London restaurants, a trip to Harrods Food Hall, Fortnum Mason, the Borough Market and a visit to a renowned chocolatier; a trip on the London Eye and a sight-seeing tour. The winner will also be taken on a behind the scenes tour through a 5 star hotel including a tour of their kitchens.
