Pianist David Helfgott adds Bloemfontein to SA tour
Australian pianist David Helfgott has added a Bloemfontein date to his Farewell, South Africa tour schedule in September. On Wednesday 11 September, he will appear in concert at the Odeion Concert Hall on the campus of the University of the Free State. The concert starts at 7.30pm and bookings are at Computicket.
Helfgott became a household name after the Oscar-winning film Shine, based on his life, gripped the imagination of people around the world. His career as a concert pianist has taken him to the most renowned concert stages of the world, including regular tours to South Africa.
The Farewell, South Africa! Tour in September will include performances in Pretoria (7), Johannesburg (8), Bloemfontein (11) and Cape Town (14 and 15).
After nearly 20 years of extensive touring he has, however, decided to cut back on his demanding schedule. Helfgott loves playing for his South African fans and this will be the last opportunity to see him live on stage.
