Techno line-up at Discotheque, The Assembly
On Friday, 27 May, Discotheque at The Assembly will be hosting a techno line-up, cosisting of Killer Robot, Artelligent, and Monique Pascall. Techno has its roots in a dark and moody bass-line and its heart in an undulating progressive sizzle.
Killer Robot is the long-time team of Ivan Turanjanin and Bruno Morphet, local veterans of an underground musical that originated in Motor City: Detroit, US. Their take-no-prisoners approach to slamming the floor with the blessed rawness that is house music's naughty twin is not an experience soon forgotten.
Artelligent, by any other name, is Headroom, one of SA's most promising exports on the dusty outpost of psytrance. Not long ago his free-spirited temperament for psychedelic outdoor culture met his dark side in an empty street and came off second best. Artelligent has been his foray into pounding techno ever since.
A touch of holism
Monique Pascall takes her techno with a touch of holism. It's also meat- and wheat-free, but you'd be surprised how good it sounds. A VJ and DJ, Monique sees her sound in a whole new light and plays with its nuances accordingly.
Ladies free before 10pm. R30 before 9.45pm, R50 after. Doors open at 8pm.
