Goths, obsessed fans and dangerous dancing in aKing's latest music vid

It was with some trepidation that I watched aKing's latest music video "Against All Odds", as a previous unfavourable music video review of mine got me in a fair amount of trouble from disgruntled directors and fans. Luckily, this time, aKing seem to back on form and have created a quirky and fun video that seems a much better reflection of the band.

Produced and directed by Dean Leslie and Greg Fell of The African Attachment, the video stars Asher Stoltz who is best known as the dude in the tiny shorts shaking his bon bon in Vodacom's All the Single Ladies ad (probably the only worthwhile advert to emerge from the black hole that seems to be Vodacom's soul, *she types remembering the hideous meerkats with a shudder*). Asher plays a somewhat demented aKing fan/stalker with a decent-sized crush on lead Laudo, who demonstrates some unique dance moves at an aKing album signing and gig, and ultimately seems to win over and possess Laudo with the two seemingly swopping identities at the end.

"We knew that the right actor was crucial to the success of the video. I'd seen the Vodacom ad ripping off All The Single Ladies. We auditioned the guy over Skype. He was perfect," said Greg Fell.

The video also showcases new aKing addition, Andrew Davenport from band Thieve who has replaced Hunter Kennedy as guitarist.

"We recently started writing music for the forthcoming album and, with Hunter's busy schedule, we all decided together that getting another guitar player was a solution that seems the best one for now. Andrew brings a great new energy to our band and we are really excited to be working with him," said drummer Snakehead Venter.
