In cooperation with Pioneer DJ, Red Bull Music 3Style’s official hardware and software partner, this year’s World Tour will run from September-December 2018. More than 1,200 DJs applied the hopes of representing their country at the ninth edition of the world’s biggest DJ competition.
While the techniques may vary, the main goal remains the same: prove their skills and ability to get a party jumping in a 15-minute mix. In that time, each DJ must play at least three different genres of music and these sets are judged against the following criteria: originality, skill, track selection, and, of course, crowd reaction.
Throughout May and June, DJs from all over the world have submitted their five-minutes performance video to be judged by a panel formed by the previous champions. Now, the winners from each stop, along with three global wildcards, will make their way to Taipei, Taiwan to join what some have called the ‘Olympics of DJing’.
