The Durban International Blues Festival

The Durban International Blues Festival is to be held from Tuesday, 14 to Sunday, 19 October, 2014, at the usual Wilson's Wharf venue in Durban. Not only does the festival create employment and opportunities for local and international acts, it also inspires civic pride and stimulates tourism development in the city.

"This popular and intimate music event has grown since its inception in 2005 and its main objective has been to provide a stage for the burgeoning blues community in South Africa. As a section 21 organisation, this annual event has also managed to raise money for selected charities whose work contributes to the welfare of society," said Festival Director Themi Venturas.

This year's tenth birthday celebratory program runs from Tuesday, 14 to Sunday, 19 October and was devised by programme director Will Wallace. It includes free as well as paid-for concerts (the latter from Thursday to Sunday - all R130 per person, per show) and sees a formidable line-up of local, national and international artists, including: Sea Level, The Gloucester Blues Program, Sebastian Goldswain, East Coast Blues Band, Rob Thompson, Natasha Meister, the newly formed all -ladies Durban blues band Cinnamon Blue, Nik and Vuyo and Bobby and the Dynamites. Cape Town blues favourites Boulevard Blues Band and Blues Broers add "spice "to the stage this year. Fans are in for a mind-blowing evening when these musicians take to the stage as they will be for the annual Fender evening, which, as usual, takes place on the Wednesday evening.

Raoul and Black Friday are back as are Black Cat Bones, The Reals, Ant Cawthorne-Blazenby, Will Wallace, Keith Fordyce, and the formidable Barry Tompson.

International guests

International blues guests; Donna Herula (US ), Raphael Imbert (France) and Charlie Love (US) put the finishing touches to this formidable and classy blues programme.

Tickets are available from Computicket now and are all R130 for the paid-for evenings of Thursday, 16 to Sunday, 19 October, which will again conclude with the Blues Summit at 7.30pm on the final evening.
