Gillette signs David Beckham to a global marketing sponsorship
Boston, USA - The Gillette Company today announced an exclusive three-year marketing agreement with football star David Beckham, who will be featured in the Company's worldwide consumer advertising and promotional campaigns for its premium grooming products. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Beckham is world-renowned as a grooming icon. This year alone he has received GQ's "most stylish man of all time" award as well as being named one of Time magazine's Top 100 most influential global icons. Beckham will debut in the new "Feeling of Gillette" advertising campaign that breaks in Europe next month.
Peter K. Hoffman, President, Blades and Razors, at Gillette, explains the association, "Gillette is known as 'The Best a Man Can Get' and David Beckham is seen by millions as the best a man can be. He is an established international icon and one of the world's best and most recognisable sports figures. We intend to globally market him as Gillette's stylish, well-groomed man."
Commenting on the new deal, David Beckham added, "I am genuinely honoured and excited about this deal. Gillette is a brand that everyone respects and I'm looking forward to being part of their business for several years. I get many offers for commercial associations, but I only ever consider the ones that I feel are right. I have always tried to associate myself with the best brands as my existing relationships with adidas and Pepsi show. This new Gillette deal is exactly that - they are the best at what they do and I'm proud to be a part of it."
