    A sweet repeat for fashion

    Low-calorie sweetener Canderel is sponsoring the Elle New Talent for the second time – last year being its first foray into this showcase. The Elle New Talent show, traditionally the opening showcase of SA Fashion Week, features the hottest in young design talent that South Africa has to offer.

    Arguably one of the event's highlights, the Elle New Talent Show is said to be the yardstick for local fashion and to set the tone for the week's celebration of design talent. It is this high concentration of talent and fashion forward-thinking that has inspired Canderel to renew its sponsorship.

    2006 winner Tony Mestre was also afforded the opportunity to join four other top SA designers in creating the first domestically designed Canderel Pocket Pack Collection, now in store. Tony Mestre, Maya Prass, Malcolm Klûk CGDT, David Tlale and Black Coffee join international fashion luminaries Lacroix, Lagerfeld and Gaultier among others whom have all contributed to previous collections.

    According to Canderel marketing manager Helen Spreemann, the South African Pocket Pack Collection is a celebration of design and creativity never before seen off the catwalk.

    “South Africa is a hotbed of talent,” continues Spreemann. “I was left breathless in appreciation of the talent showcased at the 2006 New Talent show.
