Annual Flamingo Park Festival returns in August 2013
It's that time of year again when all eyes are on Flamingo Park Racecourse for its annual Flamingo Park Festival.
Billed as Supreme Sand Racing season and kicking off on Saturday, 3 August 2013 at 10am, the Northern Cape track will host the festival, the first of a number of highly contested race days in the coming months.
The Flamingo Park Festival on Saturday, 3 August features the running of the R200,000 RA Mile, the R135,000 Betting World Sprint and the R100,000 RA Diamond Stayers Handicap. The winner of the RA Mile is guaranteed a run in the August Stakes on Saturday, 31 August at the Vaal, so punters can expect a quality racing line-up.
Action and entertainment
It is also a great day out for the whole family with free children's entertainment that includes a jumping castle, pony rides, elephant rides and fire truck rides. Popcorn and candy floss will also be available to keep those energy levels up.
The racing 'action' begins on the Friday evening (2 August) with the Racing Association Awards which recognise and honour leading owners, trainers and jockeys for the Northern Region.
Supreme Sand Racing season continues at the Vaal Racecourse on Saturday, 31 August with the August Stakes. The season culminates there on Saturday, 28 September with the Emerald Cup.
