Navigate the Comrades with mapIT
mapIT will be providing an interactive map for the Comrades Marathon for the fifth time this year. Both entrants and spectators can make use of the digital map in preparing for the Comrades, which will take place on 2 June 2013. The map can be accessed at http://comrades.mapit.co.za/.
"The Comrades Marathon is one of South Africa's most loved and supported races and mapIT are thrilled to be able to support it once again. There is a host of helpful information on our map to help runners prepare before the race and to keep spectators on track during the day," said Carey Dodd, marketing manager of mapIT. "The map also has a Twitter feed for users to engage with other followers throughout the day," Dodd added.
The mapIT interactive map includes information such as the water points, physiotherapy and first aid stops along the race route, as well as the race profile for would-be first-timers to envisage what an epic race this is to complete. To aid in easy navigation, the mapIT interactive map will detail landmarks to help users find their bearings, whilst illustrating the spectator and helicam footage points (displaying a bird's eye view at certain points). In addition to this, the map features a function that will locate a user's position, enabling them to identify their location on the map at all times whilst receiving turn-by-turn directions as they go along.
This interactive map is another example of how the collaboration of mapIT and TomTom is able to provide clients with a tailored solution from the wide range of technology, quality mapping data and efficient customer service at their disposal.
