Titans, Warriors ready to rock Pro20
“It's a new competition, the game plans are different but we're going to stay humble and take it one game at a time. It's quick and adrenalin- packed, the bowler only has 24 balls to bowl, it's easy to lose focus when every ball is going out the park so we just have to stay calm and stick to the basics,” said the Titans paceman, Ethy Mbhalati.
Mbhalati, who took the first hat-trick and was second to Charl Langeveldt with 14 wickets last season, is aiming for bigger things on the Kaboom Tour 09.
“Obviously defending the title is the first priority and the chance to play in the Champions League is a good incentive. Personally the ICC World Twenty20 happening in June is at the back of my mind and a landmark I'm working and striving towards.”
The Chevrolet Warriors will look to better their dismal 2007/2008 campaign, where they finished bottom of the log with a lone win to their record. They have the honour of raising the curtain on the Pro20 series and can set the tone for the remainder of the competition.
“We are very excited about the series; it's the highlight of the season. Pro20 is exciting cricket, every ball is an event The squad is well prepared this time around and there is a lot up for grabs with the winner taking part in the Champions League, so we're going to go out there to win,” enthused Warriors captain Davy Jacobs.
