Run the 2015 Legends Marathon

The Eastern Cape is set to host its third installment of the prestigious Legends Marathon on 3 October 2015.
Run the 2015 Legends Marathon

The events incorporate a 68km ultra marathon, 21km half marathon, and a 5km fun run. Boasting well over R1million in prize money, the ultra marathon starts in Bhisho and finishes at the Jan Smuts Stadium, East London.

With a focus on healthy lifestyle, and in a concerted endeavor to promote tourism and community in the region, Legends Marathon have partnered with the Eastern Cape Gambling Board, TRUfm, amongst others, and are looking at increasing numbers to over 10000 in 2015.

The inaugural running in 2013 saw two times winner, and current title holder, of the IAU 50km World Trophy Championships, Zimbabwe's Collen Makaza, taking the gold in a time of 3.50.36, a record which he holds today. The ladies' race was won by Fikile Mbuthuma in a time of 5.29,08.

In 2014 Makaza did not defend his title; instead returning to the World Championships, which he won, leaving a very strong field open. Zimbabwe's Marko Mambo, former Two Oceans winner, finished a strong 1st position in a time of 4.07.05, while Ethiopia's Kakissa Alemtasehay, took the glory as the First Lady home.

Closing date for Entries: 12 noon, Friday, 25 September 2015.

Entries can be done online at www.legendsmarathon.co.za.
