Six medals for Jameson at World Spirits Competition
Jameson Irish Whiskey has won six medals at the 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Judging is based on a blind, consensual procedure ensuring competitive integrity. More than 1215 spirits from 60 countries were entered into the competition.
The medals were: double Gold for Jameson 18 Year Old Limited Reserve, Silver for Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve, Jameson Gold Reserve, Jameson 12 Year Old Special Reserve and Jameson Select Reserve Black Barrel, as well as Bronze for Jameson Standard Irish Whiskey.
Jameson 18 Year Old Limited Reserve
Only the finest old whiskeys from Jameson's warehouses are selected for the Jameson 18 Year Old Limited Reserve. These whiskeys are matured for up to 18 years in oloroso sherry casks, before being transferred to bourbon barrels for a further six months. Jameson 18 Year Old Limited Reserve has a rich smooth taste and lingering finish. Only limited stocks of individually numbered bottles are available. Jameson 18 Year Old Limited Reserve retails for approximately R798.
Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve
This whiskey is the pinnacle of the Jameson range. Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve, containing some of the oldest grain and rarest pot-still whiskeys available, is triple-distilled in specially commissioned oak casks. The combination of the oldest whiskeys and the characterful ageing process has delivered a supremely lavish taste experience, which brings with it depth, complexity and intriguing berry fruit notes. Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve retails for approximately R5800.
Jameson Gold Reserve
Jameson Gold Reserve is a unique blend of three pot-still whiskeys of advanced years, each matured separately. Two different whiskeys were traditionally matured in oloroso sherry and bourbon casks, and the third was, unusually, matured in American virgin oak casks. Jameson Gold is a whiskey of exceptional harmony with a rich pot-still character. The choice of virgin oak accounts for both its honey-toasted sweetness and creamy spiciness. Jameson Gold Reserve retails at approximately R543.
Jameson 12 Year Old Special Reserve
Jameson 12 Year Old Special Reserve abounds with rich pot-still flavours and remains true to the Jameson tradition of maturing fine whiskey in oloroso sherry and bourbon casks. This 12 Year Old Special Reserve is a premium blend of special reserve whiskeys aged for a minimum of 12 years. The whiskey is of honey golden textures with a smooth rounded body. It retails for approximately R329.
Jameson Select Reserve Black Barrel is not available in South Africa.
Jameson Irish Whiskey
Jameson is a pot-still style Irish whiskey, blended from a combination of pure pot-still and grain Irish whiskeys. Triple distillation gives Jameson its smoothness and roundness of flavour, while the lengthy maturation process (in carefully selected bourbon and sherry oak casks) infuses the whiskey with mellow sweetness and a complexity of flavours. Jameson is widely available and retails for approximately R198.
