Meet Cape Town's local chefs
Reader's Warehouse Tokai is hosting something a little bit different this Saturday, 30 November 2013. Go get your cookbook signed or perhaps have a photo taken with your kitchen hero. Bring your existing books and have them signed or peruse the new releases from these local culinary wizards, available for purchase and signing too.
Local Cape Town chefs visiting are: Jan Braai, Reuben Riffel, Jenny Morris, Justin Bonello, Karen Dudley, Tina Bester, Marlene van der Westhuizen, and Christine Stevens. All eight authors will be signing books at tables within the Tokai branch. All the latest titles from the cookery authors will be available at an exclusive price for the event only, and we will have the backlists in stock where relevant.
Q&A session
Michael Olivier will be the compere and will be introducing the chefs and co-ordinating a Q&A session, so have your questions ready.
Michael Olivier grew up on a wine farm in the hills of Durbanville. He trained at The London Cordon Bleu Cookery School and is a well-known Cape Town food-and-wine commentator. Olivier has worked in and managed such well well-known places as Lanzerac Hotel in Stellenbosch and was public relations manager for the top-marque wine estate, Boschendal. Having run three restaurants: Paddagang in Tulbagh, The Burgundy in Hermanus, and Parks in Constantia, and being featured in the national top-10 restaurants, he is now a food-and-wine writer, published author and broadcaster. He has three children: Sarah, Amy and Peter and is married to Madeleine. They live in Cape Town.
