    Get the lowdown on BEE

The Black Business Executive Circle (BBEC) has commissioned Loyiso Mbabane, of the Economic Justice Agency, to compile a report on the implementation of black economic empowerment. The study will cover the seven pillars of BEE: ownership, management and control, skills development, procurement, enterprise development, employment equity and social responsibility.

BBEC chairperson Peter Vundla says: "BEE has become an emotional issue. This will be an empirical study with raw data on the state of BEE. It will interrogate what some have called self-enrichment and the demonisation of BEE."

The findings of the report will be announced at the Black Economic Empowerment Forum, to be held at the Sandton Sun & Towers on 25 October 2005. The theme of the conference is "Black economic empowerment: yesterday, today and tomorrow" and the report will be given to Business Unity SA (BUSA).
