Virgin revs Toyota’s engine
Motor manufacturer Toyota has teamed up with fitness group Virgin Active SA, as naming sponsor of this year's Virgin Active Toyota Quest competitions. Quest, a Virgin Active programme to encourage and incentivise training, is implemented at all 77 of the club's gyms nationally and runs in four promotional bursts throughout the year.
"Apart from promoting a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise, Quest provides our members with a tangible goal and incentive, through a combination of exercise, fun and, the ultimate reward of a car," says Tim Carter, General Manager: Marketing of Virgin Active South Africa.
In achieving the objectives of Quest 1, Virgin Active encouraged members to accumulate as many training hours as possible on any equipment or at any training classes. The competition was divided into three levels of participation: those who accumulated at least 8 hours of exercise over a two month period stood in line to win a Virgin Active cap. Those boasting 16 hours stood a chance of winning a Raleigh RC3000 bicycle as well as Virgin Active cycling kit. Those with an impressive 24 hours or more were eligible to win a vehicle from Toyota.
"Toyota has recognised its responsibility in the creation of a more friendly and healthy environment. We are very proud of our association with Virgin Active and their members and we believe that we can offer a strong brand, very exciting products and a comprehensive dealer network, as a partner in the Toyota Quest programme", says Marius Senekal from Toyota South Africa. "A healthy lifestyle helps to manage today's stressful work pressures. The dynamic and new design direction of our vehicles fits this attractive profile very well, we just love it!"
The winner of the first leg of the competition, 20-year old Lethiwe Majola from the Virgin Active Durban club, has secured herself a Toyota Rav4. The Virgin Active Toyota Quest Two kicks off this month and will run until the end of June. Up for grabs is a Toyota RunX 160 RX.
