Algoa FM reaches out beyond 67 minutes with the power of radio

Algoa FM presenters will be out and about investing 67 minutes for a charity in their broadcast area to mark Mandela Day.
Algoa FM reaches out beyond 67 minutes with the power of radio

Each presenter has selected a charity that is close to their hearts in which they will be spending their 67 minutes with, on Friday, 18 July.

"This approach encourages and informs Algoa FM listeners about 11 different charities stretching from the Garden Route to the Wild Coast and inland to the borders of the Eastern Cape. Algoa FM listeners and presenters are then able to be of greater assistance in meeting the needs of the various charities" says Algoa FM PR and CSI Manager Jennilee Peremore.

"The charities will also benefit from the exposure they enjoy as each presenter promotes their beneficiary on air.

"Listeners have been invited to visit our website to find out more about the charity, what their needs are, and how the listener can help.

"We believe that the exposure the charities enjoy will provide benefits for a long time after Mandela Day," says Peremore.

The Daron Mann Breakfast show charity will be the Linge's Tots Development Centre in Zwide.

Lance Du Plessis has chosen to spend his 67 minutes helping the babies from Ithemba Lam Baby Haven.

Mio and Queenie have chosen the Uitenhage SPCA.

The Fast Lane presenters, Wayne Hart and Lauren Mungur, will be doing a trolley dash at The Bridge to the value of R6,700 in aid of a charity to be announced on the Fast Lane on Wednesday, 16 July.

Gordon Graham will be revamping the garden of the East London Child and Youth Care Centre.

Kaycee Rossouw will be helping the People Opposing Poverty in Society (POPS) Foundation at the Ethembeni Youth Advice Care Centre to do interior painting, serve a cooked meal and hand out treats to the children and adults.

Vinny Ngomane will be spending his 67 minutes assisting the EDGE of Africa project in Knysna called the Recycling Swop Shop.

Graham Roberts has chosen the Bethel Safe House.

Tové Kane will be helping the General Motors staff, management and the Chevrolet Warriors team to pack 15,000 meals; a portion will be donated to KICK in the Walmer Township.

Briony Sparg has chosen Eco-Brick Exchange, and Charl Leslie will be helping the Storehouse on Thursday Night Soup Kitchen to distribute food.
