The Loeries hand over the Sappi Creative Use of Paper Award
Johan de Lange created the Humanoid corporate identity for Humanoid Films - a TV commercial and music video production company. Every piece of stationery that the company uses can be folded to make up part of a robot's fantasy world. The DVD case of the Humanoid's showreel is used to construct the robot itself. Its pet dog and dinosaur comic are made from business cards or compliment slips
The award is sponsored by Sappi, who also sponsor the Communication Design category at the Loeries. “The rationale behind the sponsorship is to underscore the fact that in this electronic age, print media still plays a vital role in brand communication. A further reason is that paper can be inspirational for visual communications campaigns,” says Graeme Futter, Marketing Manager: Brand Communications, Sappi Fine Paper South Africa.
Beautiful book, good paper - rich experience
The prizes include an Apple MacBook Pro, R50 000 of Sappi paper and Adobe Creative Suite 4 which is sponsored by Adobe. This will enable De Lange to advance his expressive use of paper.
“To read a beautiful book printed on good paper makes a huge difference,” says De Lange. “People definitely notice a company's corporate ID when printed on fine quality paper.”
Adobe would like to congratulate Johan de Lange for his innovative corporate identity, which showcases creative use of paper and technological excellence in the African creative industry. As the technology solutions provider of choice for The Loerie Awards, as well as creative professionals worldwide, Adobe looks forward to strengthening its relationship with the awards and the professional creative community even further. Adobe is proud to be associated with the The Loerie Awards and the SAPPI Creative use of Paper,' said Leonard Rabotapi, Marketing Manager, Adobe Systems Africa.
The Loerie Awards recognise creative excellence in brand communication across a broad range of media and disciplines. “The Sappi Creative Use of Paper Award is a fantastic incentive for designers to show that creativity can be expressed through new ways of using traditional media as much as through new technologies,” says Andrew Human, CEO of the Loeries. “We're pleased to be associated with Sappi on this award, and delighted with the results for our sponsor and the winner.”
