Outdoor sound demos at Mediatech Africa
Visitors to this year's Mediatech Africa will experience a wide variety of interactive activities and engaging products at the media and entertainment advanced technology hub. On the itinerary this year are a number of educational workshops, product presentations, entertainment acts and the highly anticipated live outdoor sound demonstrations.
The outdoor area will now accommodate a common stage where more brands will be showcasing their systems. Some of the most innovative, cutting-edge audio sound, amplifiers and line array systems will be able to perform without the constraints that an indoor venue can present. In order to comply with environmental impact laws, sound levels will be strictly monitored by an external sound consultant throughout the diverse three-day programme.
Participating exhibitors include: Matrix Sound, Audiosure, Sound Harmonics, Viva Afrika, CES Live, Segma, Wild and Marr and Tadco.
Sound Harmonics will be demonstrating L-Acoustics KARA system which has a dual 8-inch medium format line source array, scalable for all sizes of events and venues, for outdoor and indoor applications. This makes the affordable and effective system a real attraction for live music venues such as churches and theatres, as well as rental companies.
Audiosure have opted to showcase the Martin Audio W8LM Line array system, renowned for its versatile size, spread and power. The system is suited to touring companies and event or gear hire companies and live venues. Joining Audiosure for the presentations will be esteemed representatives from Martin Audio, namely Simon Bull, Dominic Jacobson and Peter Child. They will be available during the expo and after demos to chat to visitors about this and other Martin Audio technology.
Viva Afrika will present a number of systems, including their most popular line array products: the Audiocenter K-LA 28 small format passive Line array using dual 8" mid-range and dual 1" high-frequency compression driver and four of the Audiocenter SW218 dual 18" passive subs. They will also showcase sophisticated medium and small format line array systems from DB Technologies along with a medium to large format line array system from Hybrid, aimed at hire companies who are looking for a high performance to price ratio.
Tadco will be demonstrating two different line-array systems this year; the NEXO STM and the CODA AUDIO ViRay. STM (Scale Through Modularity) is NEXO's latest system that allows contractors the flexibility to design a wide range of systems, from a simple ground stack to a massive stadium system. This will be launched for the first time on the African continent at Mediatech 2013 and will consist of a single hang. Anyone in the market for a mid-size line array will not want to miss the ViRay demonstartion, Coda Audio's new compact 3-way symmetrical line array with DDP (Dual Diaphram Planar-wave-driver) technology, designed for mid-size touring and installation applications.
Wild and Marr will be demonstrating a range of products including the new JBL VTX Line array and JBL STX800. The VTX Series is a result of JBL's continued effort to deliver more powerful, more compact, lightweight and flexible sound reinforcement systems. At the heart of VTX is the D2 Dual Driver, a revolutionary device developed by JBL that dramatically improves the sound and performance of high frequencies. D2 overcomes the limitations of conventional compression driver technology: limited high frequency extension due to mass of the diaphragm and voice coil, and distortion characteristics that arise due to dome breakup modes. Designed for portable and fixed-venue system operators alike, VTX features JBL's legendary sound quality coupled with the most advanced sound reinforcement technology and support available. The STX800 Series was designed to bridge the space between light-duty portable PA speakers and flown full-size line array tour sound systems. Along with these new products they will also be demonstrating the JBL VT4886 Line Array and JBL VRX Constant curvature line array (Running BiAmp with new V5 presets). These products are targeted at the professional rental industry and selected permanent entertainment venue's that require high level fixed audio installations. Wild and Marr look forward to demonstrating their leading products for professionals, diligent customers and future sound investors attending Mediatech Africa.
