Safrea Western Cape to host 'Know your copyrights'

This event will cover the basics of what copyright is and a freelancer's rights, once their work has been commissioned and published; what the Protection of Personal Information Act requires and the changing landscape of data privacy law in South Africa; and an update on the dti's proposed amendments to South Africa's Copyright Act.

Panel of experts

• Geof Kirby is a commercial, industrial and architectural photographer. He is recognised as an authority on copyright and is currently serving Safrea's national task team in framing a response to the proposed Amendment to Copyright Act Bill.
• David Luyt is a law-of-technology attorney and a protection of personal information (POPI) professional, electronic signature expert, and online business aficionado.
