TEDxUCT event inspires audience

The first TEDxUCT event for 2015 and the second in the series took place last week in Cape Town. The audience was inspired by eight speakers who included Sarah Collins, founder and CEO of proudly South African heat retention cooker Wonderbag; Mapanya Sogoni, a former prisoner who is now using his experience to reach out to street children; Jose Vilandy, former SA Barista Champ and barista at well-known Truth Café; and Lorraine Loots, creator of 365 Postcards for Ants.

The speakers were carefully selected from different backgrounds to provide a variety of compelling stories and insights, thereby inspiring and challenging listeners. Speaker coordinator Rose Buckland was thrilled with the calibre of speakers at this year's event.

"It was a day of inspiration. We were very pleased that the event sold out, proving that TEDx is solidifying a reputation for bringing together people who are interested in sharing ideas and being inspired by others' passion. I also found it particularly encouraging to see how the speakers interacted with one another throughout the day, everyone was so interested in what everyone else had to say and the event definitely ended on a high note with Sarah Collins, Founder of Wonderbag sharing her views on aid with the audience," said Buckland.

The event was filmed and will be available for viewing on the TEDx YouTube Channel in the coming weeks.
