Getaway, Cybercellar partnership sees best value wines online
The move recognises the growing trend towards online shopping and complements the in-store showcasing of the Best Value wines in Ultra Liquor and other retail outlets, explains Getaway editor, Cameron Ewart-Smith.
"All publishers are looking for additional revenue streams. It is no longer enough simply to talk about products and experiences, we need to close the loop by making these available and by delivering them to the consumer's door, where possible. We are already achieving this objective with our accommodation and travel package options; extending it to our wine content offering was the next step."
Entry
To qualify for entry into the Best Value awards, wines had to sell for less than R80 a bottle and be produced in sufficient quantity to have a reasonable amount of stock available to the public.
After a week-long screening process that saw an 11-member judging panel taste 933 wines, 473 of them - all scoring 2½ Stars and above and meeting the R80 price-point criterion - were found worthy of the Best Value moniker and inclusion in the Best Value Wine Guide 2014.
The wines will be available for purchase on the website immediately after the awards ceremony on 26 August. The full results, including category winners and best wines and producers overall, will be also be published in the Best Value Wine Guide, included free with all copies of Getaway's October issue.
