Shape deputy editor shortlisted for international journalism prize
Shape's Deputy Editor, Justine Joseph, has been selected as the winning South African entry for the international Novo Nordisk Media Prize, which recognises excellence in print writing on diabetes. Joseph's winning story, entitled "What diabetes can do for you", appeared in the May issue of Shape.
Her story is an unusually positive look at the condition that focuses on the lifestyle changes that diabetes encourages - and the fact that a non-diabetic can learn a thing or two about health from a conscientious diabetic.
Joseph will be flown to Copenhagen in August for the announcement of the 2005 international winner of the competition.
Novo Nordisk is a world leader in diabetes care and is dedicated to improving awareness, which is why the organisation initiated the media award in 2003. Last year saw 17 countries participate in the competition, with 250 articles submitted. The winner will take home €10 000 prize money.
