Wake up to Popular Mechanics
Popular Mechanics now has a regular slot on the new SABC3 breakfast show, Expresso (5.30-7.30am) on Mondays, where the magazine trio of Alan Duggan, Anthony Doman and Sean Woods take turns to showcase the latest gadgets and gizmos to a live audience.
Says editor Alan Duggan, "Being part of the Expresso gang from the very first broadcast was a privilege, and working with professionals such as Michael Mol, Liezel van der Westhuizen, Katlego Maboe and Ewan Strydom is always a treat. The studio is friendly and flexible - much like the people who run it - and we're enjoying the ride."
Not that the ride has been entirely free of bumps. In a recent show, Duggan recalls, he brought a remote-controlled searchlight into the studio and launched into an impassioned description of its qualities, only to discover that the remote's batteries were flat, which meant the light wouldn't work (three seconds after the cameras moved off, it blazed into life).
