Sheryl Ozinsky shakes up tourism publications

The former CEO of Cape Town Tourism and Cape Town Routes Unlimited, Sheryl Ozinsky, has teamed up with MediaWeb Publishing and A&C Maps to create an annual tourism publication to promote South Africa's three major cities in the run-up to 2010 and beyond.

The free publication, NOT The Official SA City Guide, will be launched in December 2007 and is aimed at international and domestic tourists in South Africa. Content will be concise and opinionated and it will promote the distinctive ethos of each city in a stylish and irreverent way.

100 000 copies of the NOT The Official SA City Guide will be printed in DL format. 10 000 copies will be inserted into the February 2008 edition of Conde Nast Traveller in the UK, and 90 000 copies distributed at strategic tourism centres, including airports, information offices and conference centres in Jo'burg, Cape Town and Durban.

Ozinsky said: “The decision to team up with Mediaweb is because they create successful tourism guides (Cape-I, The Other Guide to the Cape, Go Gauteng and Discover, among others) and have a smart, aggressive distribution strategy. The other tie-in is with A&C Maps, who have consistently been producing sharply designed, user-friendly tourism literature. We believe that this is a team with fresh ideas and clearly defined goals for 2010 and beyond.”

The content of the guide will be provided by top local writers, personalities and photographers. It will be visually attractive and easy to use – a quick, definitive guide to access each city and get a handle on South Africa.
