Western Cape crafters on show at Decorex
The handmade products will be in the Western Cape Pavilion, as part of the South African Handmade Collection.
The Western Cape craft products stand scooped both the gold medal for the best provincial stand, and the award for best sales, at the previous two Decorex shows, and this year's collection promises to be equally eye-catching. The overall colour theme is turquoise, oxblood red and mustard yellow. Stylist Calvin van Moerkerken has advised the craft producers on displaying their products optimally at their individual stands.
At last year's Decorex, a hand-sewn bag made in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, won the Best Product Award at the SA Handmade Collection, and this year some stunning products will be for sale. They range from textured woven products from Barrydale Weavers to luxurious accessories made from soft natural and exotic leathers by Chimpel. Veldt Designers offers stylish accessories, clothing and homeware products inspired by indigenous fauna and flora, while Shirley's Rustic Frames uses recycled wood to make frames and mirrors.
