Skills Development Workshops 2016

The workshops will provide attendees with the knowledge, the tools and the templates to investigate adverse incidents and implement various quality improvement projects and processes in their health institutions.

The programme for the Healthcare Incidents Workshop includes:

Day 1
Healthcare incidents - why do they happen?
Medical incidents and errors

Day 2
Medication incidents and errors
Incident investigation
Morbidity and Mortality (M&M) investigation

Day 3
Root Cause Analysis - an essential tool for clinical quality improvement.

The programme for the Quality Improvement Workshop covers:

Day 1
Introduction to and History of Quality Management
Healthcare Quality Today
System and organisational aspects of quality and safety
A spectrum of approaches and methods to Quality Improvement: people, materials and methods
Quality Improvement Models
Quality Improvement Tools and Techniques

Day 2
Risk Management principles and methodology
Clinical indicators and clinical audits
Collecting, presenting and analysing data and information.

Day 3
Root Cause Analysis - a quality improvement essential tool.

Cost: R3,000 (excl. VAT) per delegate for each workshop. Delegates will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs for the workshops at COHSASA offices in Cape Town.
