yesnomayB to power UCM dating sites
At the end of October 2006, dating site yesnomayB.com goes live with Upper Case Media's FHM and Heat South Africa in a sealed joint revenue venture in which yesnomayB.com will power their online dating. yesnomayB.com was launched by SAReunited.com - the South African networking/reuniting site with over 520 000 members worldwide - four months ago, and works much like Amazon does in making recommendations via consumer twinning.
On 19 October, yesnomayB.com was featured on www.Springwise.com, a sister company to Trendwatching which is a global spotter network for the "next big thing".
"Not only did we make it to their site as a company to watch - but we are currently the leading article on the home page - as a web 3.0 product," enthuses SAReunited.com founder, Amanda Tsinonis.
According to Tsinonis, yesnomayB.com is the first-known dating site that works on collaborative filtering or consumer twinning. Imagine a dating site that recommends people to you - giving fate a helping hand:
- You like Sarah and Kate
- Mike also likes Sarah and Kate,
- Chances are you may well fancy some of those other entries in Mike's little black book too.
- That's when yesnomayB.com will slip some of Mike's favourites into your Facespin
Facespin is based on immediate visual attraction and acts on those very important first impressions. It's backed by real science, though: a complex patent-pending algorithm does the work - the more a member uses Facespin, the more the site learns your taste and makes recommendations to the user.
All Facespin endeavours are automatically logged in a fun little black book. From here it's possible to keep track of potential dates, flirty messages and, of course, all the yes and mayB's.
www.yesnomayB.com now has close on 9000 members, mostly based in SA but growing organically globally.
