To be held on Wednesday 8 October 2003 at Crowne Plaza, Sandton, Corner of Grayston Drive & Rivonia Road, Sandton

This is the fourth annual SAARF One-Day Media Research Symposium being held by SAARF to provide all stakeholders from the advertising, marketing, media and research industries the opportunity to be informed by leading international experts in the field of Media Audience Research, of the latest worldwide developments and trends.

Again speakers from all over the world have been invited to present papers on subjects that are of importance to us in South Africa, thereby helping us to understand better how other countries are coping with the complexities of media audience and product measurement in an increasingly fragmented market.

Keynote speaker will be Tony Jarvis, senior vice president and director of the Strategic Insights Group at Grey Global Group's Mediacom in the United States, where he is widely known in the media research community as 'Mr. Fusion'. He will present two papers, one on media optimizers and one on the future of media research measurement methodologies. He will be supported by other renowned speakers, including the first African to present a paper at the Symposium, Tendai Mhizha, CEO of Research International Zimbabwe, who will speak on 'The use of LSMs in Africa'. Tendai recently completed a Masters degree on LSMs and is currently enrolled for a PhD on the same topic.

Other interesting topics that will be addressed are statistical fusion, the challenges of TV measurement in the light of new technological developments, the electronic measurement of Outdoor and Radio and from Poland, an interesting paper on their readership survey.

Invited overseas guests are, Tony Jarvis and Ian Garland from the USA, Lothar Hannen from Germany, Jan Kujawski from Poland, Tendai Mhizha from Zimbabwe, and Paul Baynton from the UK.
