South African toy retailer Toys R Us has acquired exclusive retail rights to the Animal Planet toy range, which is inspired by Animal Planet, the wildlife-focused television channel, and replicates various creatures through 'life like' depictions.

The educational toys, which are centred on the concept that children learn best through experience, cater to children's innate curiosity by allowing them to understand and learn about the world of animals through play.

The range includes land and sea mammals, reptiles, arachnids and prehistoric dinosaur species and has been introduced at Toys R Us retail stores in South Africa.

The hugely popular toy assortment developed with the aim of inspiring children to unleash their imagination while promoting animal awareness, includes themed play sets, figurines, plush and remote-controlled creatures.

    Championed learning through play

"Toys R Us has always championed learning through play and prioritises our investment in quality educational toys. We are particularly excited about our partnership with Animal Planet as it brings children a unique and informative range of toys promoting awareness and conservation," said Michelle Burke, marketing manager at Toys R Us South Africa.

The Animal Planet toy range provides children the opportunity to understand the importance of wildlife and conservation. They are further introduced to potential animal-related careers.

"Playtime is an ideal opportunity for children to learn about animals that they would not ordinarily be exposed to. We believe that products such as the Animal Planet toy range contribute positively towards building awareness and appreciation for animals at an early age," added Burke.

The range will be available at Toys R Us stores nationwide.
