Thailand Trade Show 2011 opens on Thursday
According to Dr Chakarin Komolsiri, Minister: Commercial, office of commercial affairs at the Royal Thai Embassy, "As the second largest and second most populated continent after Asia, Africa is emerging as a significant trading power, with a notable high potential trade and investment destination for international investors.
"Its close connection with Europe and the US, makes Africa a significant gateway to those important economies. Similarly, on the other side of the world, Thailand, as one of the fastest growing economies in South East Asia, established itself as the gateway to the upwards of 570 million consumers that make up the 10 Southeast Asian markets.
"Following the Thai government's policy to grow and strengthen relationship with all regions, including Africa, we have put a great deal of effort into forging a vibrant bilateral trade relationship with South Africa, creating a partnership that was worth $2.36 billion in 2010 alone."
The event will feature 50 exhibitors from across diverse sectors, ranging from automotive parts and equipment, food and beverage, garments, textiles and fashion accessories, gifts and decorative items, health and beauty products, electrical appliances and household and kitchen products.
