Thailand trade show offers reciprocal contacts
According to Office of Commercial Affairs director, Chakarin Komolsiri (Minister-Commercial), South Africa is an important partner for Thailand in terms of promoting political, economic and social co-operation with the African continent, particularly with southern Africa.
"Not only do both countries share many common positions on international issues, but South Africa is Thailand's number one trading partner in Africa. It also represents an important market for us and acts as the gateway to the rest of the Sub-Saharan African continent," he says. "In turn, as the entryway to South Eastern Asia, Thailand is South Africa's top trading partner for this region."
Thailand's major exports to South Africa include rice, automobiles and automotive parts, processed and canned seafood, frozen prawns, processed chicken, tapioca products, textiles, air conditioners and parts and rubber products. Major South African exports to Thailand include steel and steel products, various mineral ores, scrap metal, paper pulp, gems and precious stones, silver and gold ingots and chemical products.
The show will see around 50 exhibitors showcasing quality, reasonably priced products manufactured in Thailand, ranging from food and beverages, garments, textiles and fashion accessories, gifts and decorative items, household and kitchen products, health and beauty offerings, automotive parts and equipment and electrical appliances.
