South African drinks score at international awards

Boschendal brought home the only two gold medals for South African wine from the Monde Selection International Wine Competition 2010 held in Brussels recently, for its Grande Cuvée Brut 2006 and the 2009 Chenin Blanc.

DGB won a selection of silver medals, two in the White wine category for its Bernard Series Hand-Picked Viognier 2009 and the Douglas Green Chardonnay 2009, and one in the Red category for the Bernard Series Bush Vine Pinotage 2007.

In Palermo, Sicily, the 2010 Concours Mondial, which took place late last month, acknowledged many top South African wines including the KWV's The Mentors range, which was awarded two gold and three silver medals.
